Missing Day, Babel Residents Found Dead On Batu Dara Mentok Beach

A joint team in West Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province managed to find the body of a teenager, a resident of Sawah Village, Tanjung, who on the previous day was declared missing because he drowned in Tanjungkalian Waters, Mentok.

"Today at around 07.30 WIB the joint team has succeeded in finding Zonathan (15), a resident of Sawah Village, Mentok, who was swept away by the current on Tuesday (6/6) afternoon," said West Bangka Police Satpolair Head Iptu Sugiyanto, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday 7 June.

The joint team involved in the search, namely the Polair Polres Unit, the 2005 patrol boat of the Polairud Directorate of the Babel Police, the Baharkam Polri Patrol boat, the Mentok Navy Post, the Babel representative Basarnas, the West Bangka BPBD, and fishermen around the scene.

"When Zonathan was found, he was dead. The body was found on Batuberaya Beach, which is located about 100 meters from the point when he drowned and was dragged by the current," he said.

After the body was successful, then the joint team evacuated. Subsequently, the body was taken to the funeral home in Kampung Sawah, Mentok for the funeral process.

On the previous day, shortly after the incident the joint team immediately searched for victims around the location, but the efforts made until the evening were fruitless.

The search on Tuesday night had to be stopped due to unfavorable weather. The joint team continued the search today and at around 07.30 WIB managed to find the victim dead.
