All Day Eruption 5 Times, Activities Of Mount Ile Lewotok NTT Decrease

NTT - The activity of Mount Ile Lewotolok in Lembata, Province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) shows a decline.

According to a report by the Head of the Mount Ile Lewotolok Monitoring Post, Stanis Ara Kian, the volcano experienced five eruptions with a height of 200-600 meters of ash during the observation period on June 1, 2023 at 00.00 WITA to 24.00 WITA.

Stanis said the number of Ile Lewotolok eruptions during the observation period was less than the number of eruptions that occurred on 30-31 May 2023.

The volcano was recorded to have experienced nine eruptions with an ash column height of 200-600 meters on May 30 and 18 eruptions with a column of ash as high as 200 to 600 meters on May 31.

"The boom or roar is still being observed even though the intensity of the eruption or eruption has decreased," Stanis said in a statement, Friday, June 2, as reported by Antara.

He also said that during the observation period on June 1, 2023, light to thick crater smoke appeared white to gray as high as 500 to 600 meters above the crater peak.

The status of Ile Lewotolok's activities is still at Level II or Alert.

Stanis said residents were asked not to carry out activities in areas within a radius of two kilometers from the top of the mountain.

The people of Lamawolo, Lamatokan, and Jontona villages are asked to be aware of the danger of lava avalanches and hot clouds from the eastern top of the Ile Lewotolok crater.
