Surakarta City Government will optimize tourist visits to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, which currently reaches tens of thousands per day to boost the regional economy.

Director of Operations of the Sheikh Zayed Munajat Grand Mosque said that it had coordinated with the Surakarta City Government to optimize the arrival of tourists.

"Emans (dear), they (tourists, ed) need souvenirs," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 1.

From the results of discussions with the Surakarta City Government, he said, the local government would optimize the existence of existing markets.

"We take advantage of our markets. The potential is large, 30,000 tourists/day," he said.

Meanwhile, Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka said several souvenirs could be sold for typical souvenirs of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, including prayer mats and prayer equipment.

"In addition, there are also T-shirts with pictures of mosques, magnets for refrigerators, key hangers, we all make them," he said.

Related to this, the Head of the Surakarta City Trade Office Heru Sunardi said the location of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque souvenir trade would use empty kiosks at Ngudi Rejeki Market and Ngemplak Market.

Meanwhile, souvenir sellers will be selected by MSMEs who are educated to sell mosque souvenirs.

"There are about 40 kiosks, but if souvenirs require a wider place, we will reduce the number later," he said.
