TANJUNGPINANG - Tanjungpinang Police, Riau Islands (Kepri), is investigating the case of beating a security guard at McDonald's fast food restaurant.

"It's true. This case is still under investigation by the Tanjungpinang Police Satreskrim," said Head of the Public Relations Section of the Tanjungpinang Police, Iptu Giovanni, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 31.

Giovanni said the beating of the security guard took place at the McDonald's yard on Wiratno Street, Tanjungpinang City, Sunday (28/5) night.

The incident was recorded by local residents using cell phones and then spread widely and went viral on social media.

"After the video of the beating spread, the Tanjungpinang Police Satreskrim ranks immediately went to the scene to dig up information from a number of witnesses in the field," said Giovanni.

Until now, the Tanjungpinang Police have not received a report on the incident experienced by the victim of a McDonald's security guard on behalf of Wira, because he is still undergoing intensive care at the Tanjungpinang Hospital.

Based on temporary information, he said, the victim was allegedly beaten by more than one perpetrator.

As a result of this incident, the victim suffered a number of lacerations to the head and bruises to the face.

After being beaten, the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital. However, the motive for the beating of the McDonald's security guard is not yet known.

"The provisional suspicion was triggered by a misunderstanding between the perpetrator and the victim," said Giovanni.
