DKI Provincial Government Cooperates With New South Wales To Realize Business City After No Longer Becoming The Capital City

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono with the Governor of New South Wales, Australia, Margaret Beazley held a meeting, one of which was related to cooperation in realizing Jakarta into a global business city after no longer holding the status of the State Capital.

"The meeting (tadi discussed) education, cooperation in education, tourism, culture, creative economy, and MSMEs," said Heru at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 25.

The DKI Provincial Government's (Pemprov) cooperation relationship with the New South Wales Government, which has been established since 1994, resulted in a memorandum of understanding which in 2022 was updated for the next five years.

"New South Wales is one of the 23 cities that collaborate with DKI Jakarta in several fields such as education, tourism, culture, creative economy, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), to digital technology," explained Heru.

In addition, Heru said representatives of the DKI Provincial Government will visit New South Wales in the context of presenting Jakarta culture in October 2023.

"In October, the presentation of Jakarta culture," said Heru.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Cooperation Bureau of the DKI Jakarta Regional Secretariat, Marulina Dewi Mutiara, explained that the long journey of cooperation between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and New South Wales resulted in a symbiotic mutualism (cooperation that is mutually beneficial) for each city.

"Actually, we have done a lot of collaboration with (New South Wales), such as the trainings of teachers to present their teaching materials, because there are so many teachers now teaching virtually. New South Wales has one Canva application whose owners are from them, they teach for free including their accounts," explained Dewi.

The city of Jakarta is also a storefront for New South Wales in the development of services for people with disabilities.

The New South Wales government also sent its experts in 2018 to study services for persons with disabilities that have been implemented at several DKI Jakarta Regional General Hospitals (RSUD).

In the future, we will strengthen this collaboration. We know that the advantage of New South Wales is that there are many well-known universities in the city. There are eleven universities and six of them have world-class (credibility) figures. They will hold an educational exhibition, we will socialize it to junior high and high school friends so that they know that there may be scholarships and others. The DKI Provincial Government will also build a scholarship network for our students," explained Dewi.
