Sexual Harassment Occurs Again On Transjakarta Bus, Perpetrators Are Immediately Taken To The Police

JAKARTA - Another case of sexual harassment occurred on the Transjakarta bus on the Tosari-Pulogadung route. This immoral act took place on Monday, May 15 yesterday.

For this incident, PT Transport Jakarta (Transjakarta) immediately reported the man who was the perpetrator of the harassment to the East Jakarta Metro Police.

"This incident has been reported by the authorities accompanied by Transjakarta," said Head of the Corporate Communications Department and CSR of PT Transjakarta Wibowo in a short message, Tuesday, May 16.

The harassment incident was revealed on social media. In the video uploaded on the Instagram account @infojkt24, it appears that the condition of the woman as the victim shouted at the perpetrator shortly after being abused.

Annoyed by this action, the victim hit the perpetrator who was wearing a brown shirt with a bottle of mineral water.

To the driver on the bus, the victim immediately asked the perpetrator to be arrested. The officer then grabbed the perpetrator's arm and took him out of the bus to the bus stop.

"Pramusapa Transjakarta immediately took action according to the company's operating standards (SOP) by securing the perpetrators suspected of sexually harassing them," said Bowo.

The case of sexual harassment on a Transjakarta bus earlier occurred in March. After being widely discussed by the public, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono plans to install a surveillance camera or CCTV capable of detecting everyone entering the Transjakarta bus stop.

CCTV, which is equipped with facial recognition technology, is targeting perpetrators of sexual harassment to enter Transjakarta transportation.

This was decided by Heru after discussing cases of sexual harassment on the bus that had been repeated some time ago.

"Yesterday when I went to Transjakarta, there was a plan to use the existing CCTV (face recognition)," Heru told reporters, Friday, March 3.

This facial recognition camera, when operating, will detect the faces of the perpetrators of abuse who have previously been recorded as carrying out their actions.

When the person concerned wants to get into the Transjakarta bus stop and bus and is caught on CCTV cameras, his entry access will be blocked. The perpetrator could not get on the Transjakarta bus onwards.

However, Heru could not confirm when this system would be implemented. "For the time soon. Later I will handle Transjakarta and the Transportation Service," he concluded.
