JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is opening up space for participation to the public to provide input regarding the picture of Jakarta after moving the state capital city (IKN) to Nusantara, East Kalimantan in 2024.
This public consultation has been held twice and will be held again for the third time in the coming days.
DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary (Sekda) Joko Agus Setyono said the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government needed aspirations from the public to determine the fate of Jakarta when it no longer holds the status of the capital city of Indonesia.
Later, this input from the public will be summarized in the content of the academic paper for the revision of Law (UU) Number 29 of 2007 concerning the Provincial Government of the Special Capital City of Jakarta as the Capital City of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
After being compiled, this academic paper will later be deposited with the central government to be discussed with the DPR RI into law.
"We will accommodate the aspirations that the community wants so that this law will later determine Jakarta in the future. The guide is Jakarta to become a global city. Now, we throw it to the public to get input to increase the perfectity of the law," Joko told reporters, Thursday, May 11.
In this regard, the DKI Provincial Government will also elaborate more on Jakarta's 12 powers as special areas after the transfer of the nation's capital. Input from the community will also be stated in this special authority.
The 12 special powers are related to public work and spatial planning, public housing and residential areas, culture, investment, transportation, the environment, population control and family planning, industry, tourism, trade, education, and health.
"We are thinking about the specificity. This is also discussed in the formulation of the bill so that Jakarta becomes what Jakarta has in particular in the law. Yesterday, the special area of the capital city, now it is possible that Jakarta is a special area," he explained.
For information, the public consultation held by the DKI Provincial Government was previously held on March 31, 2023 at the A One Hotel. The second public consultation was held in the Jakarta City Hall Pattern Room.
In the second public consultation activity, the DKI Provincial Government invited academics, representatives of community organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), as well as business actors and professional associations.
In general, Jakarta will transform specifically into a global city that functions as the main node in the world's economic network, has a binding relationship with other cities, and has a direct impact on global social and economic affairs.
