British Ambassador to Indonesia Owen Jenkins offers cooperation in realizing sustainable transportation, namely light rail transit to the Bali Provincial Government to support decarbonization efforts or reduce carbon emissions from public transportation.

"This is one of the areas of expertise that the UK can offer in line with our ongoing support for the electrification of TransJakarta buses," Owen Jenkins said.

He admitted that he was interested in discussing the LRT's sustainable transportation, which plans to connect I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and the main tourist area in Badung Regency.

In addition, he is also interested in studying further about the Bali Provincial Government's plan to decarbonize the local public transportation system.

To explore the potential for LRT transportation cooperation, Ambassador Owen is scheduled to visit the Island of the Gods and meet with Bali Governor Wayan Koster on Thursday (11/5).

In addition to the potential for LRT cooperation, the British Ambassador also wants to strengthen and increase cooperation in the fields of tourism, education, digital, and waste management.

He also praised the government in Bali for being the host of one of the largest and most prestigious events in the world, the G20 Summit in November 2022.

"I congratulate Indonesia, especially Governor I Wayan Koster, for his friendliness and professionalism as an extraordinary host for British ministers and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at the G20 Summit," he said.

While in Bali, he also plans to meet the Mayor of Denpasar, I Gusti Ngurah Jaya Negara to discuss increasing cooperation in various fields.

Ambassador Owen will also hold a closed lunch with several British nationals in Bali to mark theappropriation of King Charles III which was recently held on Saturday (6/5) and would like to thank them for their contribution to the well-established friendship with Bali.

The visit to Bali, he said, was also Owen Jenkins' last working visit as the British Ambassador to Indonesia which will soon end.

"As far as I say goodbye and thank our partners in Bali and as my term ends as British Ambassador, I firmly believe our relationship with this province will continue to grow in a mutually beneficial direction for our two citizens," he said.
