JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said that the damaged accessibility (roads) could disrupt the development of tourist destinations because of the difficulty of reaching tourist sites.

This was conveyed in connection with the damaged road in Lampung Province, which has recently been in the spotlight of netizens.

"If access roads are not built, the destinations cannot develop, as well as when I come to Pahawang Island, and in several other places (the road is damaged)," Sandiaga said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 8.

In fact, in terms of tourism, accessibility, attractions, and amenities are the main factors that encourage the development of tourist destinations.

Sandiaga also admitted that he had made several working visits in Lampung and passed the streets with damaged conditions.

"I visited two consecutive years of Lampung Province, more than four times, one of the tourist villages of Kopi Rigis Jaya is near Liwa City, I had to reach more than seven hours of travel from Lampung in damaged road conditions," he said.

Although in Sumatra there is already a trans Sumatra toll road, tourist destinations and creative economy centers have not been connected and development is needed.

Sandiaga explained that infrastructure in the regions is a shared task to serve the community, if the Regional Government (Pemda) is deemed unable to carry out it, it can collaborate with the Central Government (Pempus).

Sandiaga also appreciated President Jokowi's visit some time ago during a working visit in Lampung.

According to him, Jokowi's spontaneous visit to the damaged streets, instead of repairing roads, the local government has complied with his predictions.

"I have suspected that Mr. Jokowi will not come to the place he will be shown, but he has his own research and I often do the same thing, there is a similarity in my approach to the president that if it is shown there, I want to try something else," he said.
