The Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of West Sumatra (West Sumatra) thwarted the circulation of 8.5 kilograms (kg) of dried marijuana brought by two couriers in Padang City.

Head of the West Sumatra BNNP Brigadier General Pol Sukria Gaos said one of the two couriers arrested was a minor with the initials MFR (16) who came from Pariaman City.

He explained that the two perpetrators were arrested on Jalan Bypass KM 8.5 Kampung Lalang, Pasar Ambacang Village, Kuranji District, Padang City on Friday 5 May at 07.30 WIB.

The arrests began with the West Sumatra BNNP Eradication Division Team receiving information from the public that there was a transportation of dried marijuana.

According to him, the officers followed up on the information and immediately investigated the targets and plans for the location of the arrest.

"It was observed that the marijuana type narcotics were sent using four-wheeled vehicles and the team carried out a mapping on the Sumatra Cross Road," he said at a press conference held in Padang, Monday, May 8, which was confiscated by Antara.
