Visit Prabowo, Airlangga To Cak Imin, JK Considered Testful For The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - In the midst of intense communication between political parties and even cross-coal ahead of the 2024 presidential election, Jusuf Kalla (JK) was visited by political party leaders.

There are Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto, Golkar Chairman Airlangga Hartarto to PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar separately visited JK at his residence, Brawijaya, South Jakarta.

Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Political Communication Lecturer Nyarwi Ahmad said JK did have three valuable experiences for party general chairmen, from his work as vice president (wapres) for two different governments.

"JK is the only political party figure in Indonesia who has held the position of vice president in two different governments. In the first era of President SBY's administration and in the first era of President Jokowi's administration," said Nyarwi as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 8.

Thus, said Nyarwi continued, JK has experience in compiling and managing coalitions of political parties to support presidential and vice presidential candidates.

"Second, is an experience in winning the 2004 and 2014 presidential elections," he said.

Next is JK's experience in managing the government with the elected president for the 2004-2009 and 2014-2019 periods.

"The three types of JK experience are clearly valuable knowledge for the general chairmen of the party who are currently still confused about formulating a solid coalition block," said the Executive Director of the Indonesian Presidential Studies (IPS).

In addition, these three experiences are also useful for the general chairmen of political parties in determining the pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates that they can carry and win in the 2024 presidential election campaign.

Therefore, even though JK currently does not have a strong position in political parties, JK's attitudes and opinions have the potential to influence the direction of political policies that will be taken by the Golkar Party.

"This includes determining the direction of the coalition and pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates to face the upcoming presidential election," said Nyarwi.
