Reviewing Tanah Abang Market And Sarinah Mall, Jokowi: Money Circulation During The 2023 Eid Holidays Is Very High

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo visited Tanah Abang Market Block A and Sarinah Mall on Thursday 4 May afternoon to evening.

Jokowi's arrival was to check the sales trend of traders in this market during Ramadan until before Eid 2023

"Is there an increase, is there a decrease?" Jokowi told the media crew at Sarinah Mall, Central Jakarta, Thursday, May 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to the President, every trader who is visited admits that there has been an increase in turnover during the period in question, which ranges from 50-80 percent.

The President said this was in accordance with government predictions regarding the increase in money circulation during the Ramadan period, ahead of Eid al-Fitr, and the 2023 Eid holiday.

"I think this is good in accordance with our predictions that the circulation of money ahead of Eid al-Fitr and during the Eid holiday 2023 will increase very high. Our estimate is that it is only estimated, approximately Rp230 trillion," he said.

The amount of this figure is as good as the estimated economic potential generated in the tourism sector and the creative economy (parekraf) during the homecoming period and the 2023 Eid holiday.

Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno on Tuesday, May 2, said that the economic potential of the tourism sector in that period reached IDR 335.3 trillion.

According to the official website of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, this figure resulted from a survey conducted on March 31-April 28, 2023, where the average tourist expenditure during the Eid 2023 holiday reached IDR 2,708,732 per person higher than the initial estimate of IDR 1.9 million.

If it is connected to the potential for national movement during the 2023 Eid homecoming from the Ministry of Transportation as many as 123.8 million people, then the projected economic turnover is estimated at IDR 335.3 trillion.
