Jambi Governor Al Haris said the central government and local governments bear all costs of repatriating Jambi residents who were evacuated from Sudan, who were facing conflict.
"We express our gratitude because there were no residents from Jambi who were victims of the civil war conflict in Sudan and all of them returned safely and healthily," said Al Haris in Jambi, Antara, Wednesday, May 3. "The Jambi Provincial Government is grateful that there were no casualties from our citizens," he said.
A total of 19 Jambi residents who were evacuated from Sudan were all students.
Head of the Administrative Bureau for the Regional Secretariat of Jambi Province, Edy Kusmiran, said that after arriving in Jambi, 15 of them were picked up by their families at the airport.
Four other people were facilitated by the government to return to their area of origin, some of whom returned to Merangin and Tebo.
There were 28 students from Jambi who studied in Sudan and 19 of them have been sent back to their area of origin. Nine other people are still waiting for repatriation.
The government is trying to evacuate Indonesians in Sudan to avoid the impact of the conflict in the country.
