PENAJAM - The flood that submerged 49 houses in Karang Jinawi Village, Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU), East Kalimantan (Kaltim) due to overflowing rivers after heavy rains, this afternoon gradually receded.

"A total of 49 houses affected by this flood are spread across six RTs in Karang Jinawi Village, Sepaku District, namely RT 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, and RT 08," said Head of the PPU Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Budi Santoso in Penajam, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 2.

"The latest conditions, overall in the affected areas, have gradually receded but are slow, even though there are flood points with TMA conditions that are still stagnant," continued Budi.

Previously there was an early warning from the BMKG in a row, namely on Monday, May 1 regarding the forecast for moderate to heavy rain which could be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in Sepaku.

Meanwhile, high-intensity rain in Karang Jinawi Village on Monday, May 1 at 16.00 WITA, lasted until Tuesday, May 2 at 08.00 WITA.

This caused the Miyango Watershed (DAS) to overflow and affected the rise of the TMA for residential areas in low areas and around riverbanks.

"Currently the team is still collecting data and monitoring of TMA in affected areas. We also continue to remind residents to always supervise children not to play in flood areas because the flow is quite strong and to anticipate things that are not desirable," he said.
