SOLO - The Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka asked that the economic growth of the City of Solo, Central Java not only be supported by the construction sector.

"(Solo)'s economic growth is 6.25 percent. It has to be broken down again, mostly from construction, because construction in Solo is massive," he said at a briefing after a joint leave in Solo, Central Java, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 26.

Gibran reminded that it should not be until 2024-2025 when construction is completed, that it will impact on a decline in economic growth. Therefore, one thing that must be done is to shift the use of the budget.

"With the construction that has been completed, plotting the budget must also change, plotting the budget is to enliven, fill in the buildings that are already standing," he said.

The Mayor of Solo also invited all parties to innovate and adapt to new things.

"You can't do business as usual. There must be innovation, adjusting to circumstances, adapting new things to the dynamics that are happening in Solo," he said.

Gibran ordered that activities or agendas that do not have a positive impact on economic growth in Solo be eliminated.

"Just get rid of the monotony. Replace it with a new one. Innovation is stuck, no problem, partner with the private sector," he said.

Gibran said that so far many private parties have wanted to help local governments, but not a few have failed to realize this because they were hampered by regulations.

"Give as much space as possible for the private sector, make it easier for the private sector to work. The mindset must change, you can't work like the old bureaucrats," he said.
