Bogor Surrounded By Disaster, Regency Government Establishes Disaster Emergency Response

BOGOR - Acting Bogor Regent Iwan Setiawan immediately declared Bogor Regency, West Java, to have a disaster emergency response status after his area was surrounded by natural disasters on Monday, April 24.

"I have instructed the BPBD to record all material and non-material losses from the disaster that occurred yesterday. After that, issue a disaster emergency response status," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 25.

According to him, the emergency response status is so that post-disaster handling can be carried out more quickly and maximally, such as budget support from the regional budget.

Iwan explained that currently, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bogor Regency is still recording the impact and losses caused by natural disasters.

He also appealed to the public, including tourists, to always be careful, especially in disaster-prone locations.

"Be careful of extreme weather that can occur at any time. The public, tourists who are on vacation also must not be careless. We must all be vigilant to minimize the potential impact of a disaster," said Iwan.

Meanwhile, the Acting Chief Executive of the Bogor Regency BPBD Asep Sulaeman admitted that he had received the instruction from the Acting Head of the Bogor Regent. Currently, the team is still collecting data and coordinating with cross-sectors to calculate losses due to the disaster.

"Mr. Acting Regent directly instructed to move quickly to deal with this disaster. Currently, the team is on standby in the field and coordinating with related agencies, such as Social Services, DPKPP, PUPR, and others," he said.

He explained that the extreme weather that occurred on D+2 Eid had resulted in a number of disasters in several locations in Bogor Regency. At least, from the interim report, there are five districts that were hit by the disaster.

"From the east, there was ground movement in Sukamakmur and landslides in Babakanmandang. Then, there were several flash floods in the western region, such as Leuwisadeng, Jasinga, Sukajaya," he explained.

Asep confirmed that so far there have been no casualties in the disaster. However, there was damage to buildings and public facilities such as roads and bridges.
