Komnas HAM Confirms Case Of Persekusi Perempuan Di Pesisir Selatan On The Track

The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) Representative of West Sumatra confirmed that the case of alleged two women's persecution in Pesisir Selatan Regency is still running as it should or on the track. "Komnas HAM continues to monitor this case, in particular what the relevant authorities have done," said Head of the Komnas HAM Office Representative of West Sumatra Sultanul Arifin quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday 18 April.Sultanul said the monitoring refers to Law Number 39 of 1999 concerning Human Rights. From the legal process currently still running in the police, it is hoped that it can provide a sense of justice for the community, especially victims. "This continues the Komnas HAM monitor whether the relevant parties have been handled, including whether recovery has been carried out against the victim," he said. Until now, Komnas HAM West Sumatra Representative has not received public complaints, especially from the two victims. However, Sultanul ensured that if in that incident there was an indication of human rights violation, then the agency would directly investigate. Komnas HAM assessed that the case was still running according to the mechanism in the South Coast Police Resort Police and the Regional Police (Polda) West Sumatra. "Until today, this case is still on track by both security and government," he said. Komnas HAM regretted the alleged persecution of two women who were carried out by a group of people on Saturday, April 8 night. In a video circulating on the internet, a group of youths seemed to bring a woman to the beachfront. In addition to forcibly opening clothes, the woman was thrown into the sea.

"As a state of law, if there are actions that are not appropriate, then there is a channel to convey," he said. The alleged persecution that occurred in Pesisir Selatan Regency was classified as degrading to human dignity. The act allegedly violated human rights principles which could not be reduced in the slightest.
