JAKARTA - The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) will ask for clarification from the North Sumatra Regional Police (North Sumatra) regarding the case of Bripka AF, a member of the Samosir Police Traffic Unit who was allegedly involved in vehicle tax evasion who died by suicide.

Kompolnas member Poengky Indarti said there were three things her party wanted to clarify. First, regarding the death of Bripka AF which according to the police was due to suicide by drinking cyanide poison which was proven by the autopsy results and other evidence.

Second, regarding the report by the family of the late Bripka AF to the North Sumatra Police regarding the alleged murder because the family found irregularities about the death of the deceased.

"The family suspects that the Samosir Police Chief threatened the deceased," Poengky said, Friday, March 24.

The third matter that Kompolnas will clarify to the North Sumatra Police is related to alleged corruption cases involving the late Bripka AF and other people.

"In order to get clarity, Kompolnas will clarify with the North Sumatra Regional Police regarding the three matters mentioned above," said Poengky.

Kompolnas members from elements of society also hope that the alleged corruption case of Bripka AF can continue to be investigated because it is suspected that other people are involved and given a large amount of loss to society.

Meanwhile, regarding the report on the family of the late Bripka AF, said Poengky, if there is evidence that corroborates the family's suspicions, then the report on the alleged murder needs to be followed up by the North Sumatra Regional Police in a professional manner with the support of scientific crime investigation (CSI), including checking whether there were threats by the Samosir Police Chief to the family.

"We also hope that this case can be conveyed transparently to the public as a form of accountability," said Poengky.

Bripka AF is suspected of being involved in embezzling motor vehicle tax money belonging to hundreds of Samosir residents with a figure of IDR 2.5 billion.

A member of the Samosir Police Traffic Unit was found dead on a cliff in the Simullop Hamlet area, Siogung Ogung Village, Pangururan District, Somasir Regency, on February 6, 2023.

However, the family suspects that there are irregularities in the death of Bripka AF who reportedly committed suicide due to drinking cyanide poison.
