With a ban like this, it will impress that he is less friendly with Muslims, ” said PKS Secretary General Aboe Bakar Alhabsyi to reporters, Friday, March 24. This member of Commission III of the DPR then brought up the matter of President Jokowi's in-laws celebration. According to Aboe, the public will compare it with the event if the prohibition of breaking the fast together is motivated by the reasons for COVID-19. It is known that President Joko Widodo prohibited open together activities (bukber) during Ramadan 1444 H/2023 as stated in Cabinet Secretary Letter Number 38/Seskab/DKK/03/2023 regarding directions related to the implementation of breaking the fast together. The letter is intended for ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, the Attorney General, the TNI Commander, the National Police Chief, and the head of the body/institution. Through this letter, President Jokowi emphasized three points regarding breaking the fast together for state officials and civil servants (ASN). First, the current handling of COVID-19 is in the transition from a pandemic to an endemic so that caution is still needed. Second, the implementation of breaking the fast together during the holy month of Ramadan 1444 Hijri to be abolished. Third, the Minister of Home Affairs should follow up on these directives to governors, regents, and mayors. The letter requested that ministers, heads of agencies, heads of institutions, and regional heads comply with the President's directives and forward to all employees in their respective agencies.
