Police officers arrested five men suspected of being the perpetrators of motorcycle theft. The arrest of the perpetrator was marked by a chase accompanied by gunfire into the air in the Kramat Jati area, East Jakarta.

The arrest went viral on social media. In the amateur video footage, the perpetrators could only surrender when officers made arrests on Jalan Raya Bogor, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.

Officers had difficulty securing the perpetrators, but after being assisted by local residents, the perpetrators were arrested.

From Fatur's confession, an eye witness to the incident, he learned of the incident when he was about to close the shop.

"It was crowded outside, suddenly there was a gunshot. I thought there was a firecracker when I came out someone was running after the police," he said, Friday, March 10.

Officers who were furious at the treatment of the perpetrators, were forced to fire fire into the air so that the perpetrators surrendered. The incident had attracted the attention of other people around the location.

"The perpetrator from the direction of the JPO ran into the market chased by the police, two people were arrested. The perpetrator and his motorbike were arrested. The perpetrator was handcuffed by the police," he said.

The perpetrators were then secured using a vehicle belonging to a police officer for further processing.
