JAKARTA - Deputy President Ma'ruf Amin paid his respects to the funeral home of the late Kiai Haji Ali Yafie at the Menteng Residence Complex, Bintaro Jaya, South Tangerang, Sunday, February 26.

Accompanied by Wury Ma'ruf Amin's wife, the Vice President arrived at the takziah location at 12.00 WIB. On this occasion, the Vice President expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and led the reading of the tahlil and prayers.

According to a press release received in Jakarta on Sunday, the Vice President said a prayer to Allah SWT, that Kiai Ali Yafie would get the best place by His side.

"Hopefully his deeds of worship will be accepted by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, mistakes and shortcomings will be forgiven, in a proper place by His side, including us Muslims, he will also miss a lot," said the Vice President.

In his press statement after the ceremony, the Vice President recalled the figure of Kiai Ali Yafie as a figure who should be emulated because of his knowledge.

“He is my teacher, my senior. For me he is a person who has a lot of knowledge, not only regarding religion, but also nationality," recalled the Vice President.

The Vice President added that apart from adhering to religious teachings, Kiai Ali Yafie was also known for his politeness.

"He always provides his guidance in a polite and rational way, which is very firm in adhering to religious teachings," added the Vice President.

The Vice President was also impressed with Kiai Ali Yafie's skill in establishing communication with various elements of society.

"He can get along with anyone and is able to communicate with all levels. A good person and exemplary in many ways," said the Vice President.
