President Putin Calls Russia-China Relations Is Key To Stabilizing The International Situation

JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a meeting with China's top diplomats on Wednesday, cooperation between Beijing and Moscow was important to "stabilize the international situation".

"The cooperation between China and Russia on the world stage is very important to stabilize the international situation," President Putin said during a meeting with Wang Yi, launching CNA on February 22.

The two's meeting comes as the PRC tries to emerge as a mediator, expected to unveil their own "political solution" to the Ukraine conflict this week.

Beijing has sought to position itself as a neutral party, while maintaining close relations with its ally, Russia.

However, Washington and NATO say concerned PRC may be preparing to send weapons and ammunition to help Russia continue its campaign in Ukraine.

"With the Russian side, we are ready to strengthen our strategic partnership and deep cooperation," Wang Yi told President Putin.

China's top diplomat emphasized that the partnership between the two countries "is not aimed at any third country and is not subject to pressure".

Before meeting President Putin, Wang Yi met his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov.

"Despite the high turmoil on the world stage, we show our solidarity and readiness to defend each other's interests based on respect for international law and the central role of the United Nations," Lavrov said.

It is known, Wang Yi was on the final stop of the European tour, which also included meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
