Ministry of Social Affairs Refers Infants with Acute Kidney Failure from Indramayu to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs referred a three-year-old toddler, Aileen Oxavia Triyatno from Indramayu, West Java, who indicated acute kidney failure to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Jakarta.

Aileen's condition received special attention from the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini so through the Phala Martha Center in Sukabumi, Aileen was taken to receive initial treatment at Indramayu Hospital on Wednesday, February 15.

"Aileen has not been registered as a BPJS recipient. But we still took her to the hospital, while taking care of the BPJS. Thank God, the membership card came out of the hospital quickly. Yesterday (February) 16 it was active", said Head of Sentra Phala Martha Cup Santo in a written statement reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 20.

To get more comprehensive treatment, Cup Santo said that his party immediately referred Aileen to RSCM on February 16 with the operational costs being borne by the Ministry of Social Affairs.

"Operations are borne by the Ministry of Social Affairs. We also coordinate with Sentra Handayani for accommodation while in Jakarta. So the family can take turns guarding and resting at the Sentra", he said.

Apart from facilitating Aileen's treatment, the Ministry of Social Affairs also provided Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) assistance with staples, personal hygiene tools, and additional nutrition for Aileen.

Aileen's parents also received assistance such as mattresses and blankets used while on duty at the hospital. Furthermore, Cup said that his party would conduct a follow-up assessment to provide business capital for Aileen's parents. The plan is to provide a phone credit kiosk for Aileen's father, and a food and soft drink business for her mother.

Meanwhile, Aileen's acute kidney condition has also been reported to the Ministry of Health and Police Criminal Investigation Agency. Considering acute kidney cases in children are common.

"We have discussed with the Ministry of Health and Police Criminal Investigation Agency to investigate the syrup drug that Aileen drank. The Ministry of Health has also come to Aileen's parents' rented house in Cirebon to take samples of medicine and food", said Cup.

Previously, the story of Aileen Oxavia Triyatno, who had to return home from the hospital due to being unable to pay fees, was widely reported in the media. His parents were forced to discontinue treatment because they had not been registered as BPJS recipients. Aileen's father, Yatno (39), works as an employee in a shop in Cirebon with a mediocre salary. Her mother is not working to focus on taking care of Aileen and her 7-year-old sister.

Aileen's biological mother, Tri Indriani (33) was very relieved by the Ministry of Social assistance for the treatment of her child, who was still in critical condition when he was brought.

"I thank you profusely to the Minister of Social Affairs who has directed her staff to help handle Aileen's treatment. Those who were previously in critical condition were brought to RSCM Jakarta and Alhamdulillah, their condition has now improved", said Tri.

Tri said he almost gave up seeing her daughter's condition that never recovered. Since experiencing a high fever on February 6, Tri has taken Aileen to a clinic and hospital in Cirebon for treatment. Her fever didn't go down and her whole body swelled up. Aileen was later diagnosed with progressive acute kidney failure.

Aileen's current condition is slowly showing progress. Aileen was treated in the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) for three days after undergoing dialysis, but on Sunday, February 19 she was able to be transferred to the treatment room.
