In the last 2 months, the Central Java Regional Police Revealed 66 Cases of Drugs and Confiscated Methamphetamine Weighing 282 Grams

SEMARANG - The Central Java Regional Police revealed as many as 66 cases of drug abuse during the first two months of 2023. A total of 282 grams and half a kilo of marijuana were confiscated.

Director of Narcotics Research at the Central Java Regional Police Police Chief Commissioner Lutfi Martadian said in Semarang, Thursday, that from the disclosure of so many cases of drug abuse, investigators had named as many as 78 suspects.

In addition to disclosing cases of abuse of methamphetamine, cannabis, Koplo pills, and synthetic tobacco, the Central Java Regional Police's Directorate of Narcotics also uncovered cases of illegal herbal medicine producers.

From the various disclosures, the police seized 282 grams of methamphetamine, 569 grams of marijuana, 10.8 grams of synthetic tobacco or gorilla tobacco, hundreds of Koplo pills, as well as 11 kilograms of herbal medicine or illegal traditional medicines.

According to Lutfi, Central Java is a routeing area for drug shipments, although it is not a priority area.

With a population of around 36 million people, Central Java is also one of the areas with a large number of drug users compared to other regions.

"There are several areas that are of concern in disclosing drug cases, such as the city of Semarang, Surakarta and its surroundings, and Magelang," he said.

He added that the various actions taken were a form of the Central Java Regional Police's commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and abuse.
