Officers Make Sure There Are No Casualties In The Crash Of The Dumai Line 9 Ferry Ship

RIAU - The Port Authority Harbormaster Office (KSOP) Karimun said there were no casualties in the crash of the Dumai Line 9 ferry that sailed from Tanjung Balai Karimun, Riau Islands to Selatpanjang, Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province.

"Alhamdulillah, there were no casualties in the incident, all passengers and crew survived," Head of the Class I KSOP Guard, Patrol and Investigation Section Karimun Kastono, quoted from Antara, Sunday, February 12.

He explained that the ferry carrying 241 passengers ran aground after crashing into a mangrove forest in the waters of Anak Ayam, Sungaitohor Village, East Tebingtinggi District, at around 11.00 WIB.

"The loss of this ship may be due to human error (human error), because we have given permission for shipping because we see that the weather conditions are also not a problem," he said.

He explained that the condition of the ship that ran aground was also not damaged or leaked to the hull, so that at this time the ferry managed to escape from the river, after utilizing the tide and was already in the Strait.

"The ship docked at Selatpanjang Harbor at around 13.30 WIB," he said.

Information on the breakdown of the Dumai Line 9 ferry was revealed through the circulation of a number of video posts on social media recorded by passengers on the ship by showing parts of the end of the ship infiltrating a mangrove bush by the sea.

The cause of the ship's accident is not certain, but it is suspected that the Ferry Dumai Line 9 ship lost control and the steering did not work due to strong winds in the sea.

Fortunately, the condition of the ship only ran aground on the mainland of mud and did not cause the hull to be damaged.
