Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto Sends Initial Logistics Assistance For Turkish Earthquake Victims

JAKARTA - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto released the departure of 5 tons of logistical assistance for victims of the Turkish earthquake from Halim Perdanakusuma Airfield, Jakarta, Saturday.

The assistance was transported by C-130 Hercules A1326 aircraft, which included basic needs such as food and clothing.

"There is food, there are shoes, there are rain clothes, there are blankets, and we will continue to send them," Prabowo said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, February 11.

The Minister of Defense also stated that Indonesia would continue sending medical needs assistance from the TNI and the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). In addition, according to the Minister of Defense, Indonesia will also send similar assistance to the Syrian citizens who were also affected by the earthquake in Turkey.

"Will follow (for Syria)," Prabowo said briefly.

The logistical assistance was dispatched in conjunction with the Indonesian government's humanitarian assistance through a release procession led by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base.

Indonesia also dispatched 65 aid team personnel, including 47 personnel from the Middle Urban Search and Rescue (MUSAR) Basarnas and 13 personnel from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

Phase I humanitarian assistance for victims of the Turkish earthquake was dispatched using the Indonesian Air Force (AU) Boeing 737-400 A7308 and C-130 Hercules A1326 aircraft.

The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also said that the next logistical assistance would be sent after the personnel sent had arrived at their destination.

Also attending the humanitarian aid departure procession Phase I for the victims of the Turkish earthquake were Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono, Air Force Chief of Staff (Kasau) Marshal TNI Fadjar Prasetyo, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. Suharyanto, and Head of the National SAR Agency (Basarnas) Marshal TNI Henri Alfiandi.
