MENTOK - West Bangka Police Resort, Bangka Belitung Islands, has activated patrols of residents as an effort to prevent criminal acts and acts of radicalism.

"We mean this identity activity for residents to strengthen the relationship between the police and residents. With this activity, it makes it easier for us to maintain a safe, orderly and comfortable situation in the community," said Head of the West Bangka Police Samapta Unit, Iptu Alfaizun, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 1.

So far, he said, the police have continued to approach the public through various patterns of activity.

Through various activities, he hopes to facilitate the duties of personnel in maintaining security and order. This is important because with the community, it will be easier to know the development of the situation in their midst.

"This is important. Residents are increasingly feeling the presence of the police and provide various information to realize security and social order," he said.

Through the presence of the police in the community, he continued, it will also make it easier for the police to provide various information and education related to joint efforts to prevent violations of the law, crime, and prevention of the entry of radicalism.

In direct meetings with residents, personnel invite together, work together to fight radicalism, anti-Pancasila intolerance, and acts of terror in order to create a safe and conducive society situation.

Residents' patrols continue to be carried out, not only in the midst of crowds, but also in the middle of villages, residential areas, and other gathering places.

This is done to prevent crimes, terrorism, and the possibility of drug trafficking and abuse.

"Prevention needs to be done together as early as possible," he said.

He hopes that if the public finds out or suspects any criminal acts and movements that lead to ideological irregularities, they will immediately report them to the police or Bhabinkamtibmas.

"Patrol is also targeting young people and adolescents by providing an understanding of the dangers of drugs and the negative impact of their use. We also ask parents to supervise the association of children to avoid these illicit goods," he said.
