Trenggalek Education Office Deactivates Teacher Who Abused 5 Students

TRENGGALEK - The Education Office of Trenggalek Regency, East Java, has imposed a deactivation sanction on a teacher with the initials AH (50) who is suspected of committing sexual abuse against five of his students in the school library.

"Because the educational institution is under our auspices, we have brought the person concerned to the office. The aim is to anticipate and secure it so that allegations of similar incidents do not recur," said Trenggalek Regency Education, Youth and Sports Agency Head Agus Setiyono as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 1.

Internally, the education office has also clarified and collected information regarding the alleged sexual abuse case in the school environment.

As a result, AH as the reported party denied the accusation. He admitted that he had never committed an indecent act as reported to the authorities.

However, for proof, he fully submitted to the ongoing legal process.

"We conducted an internal examination and asked for information from the person concerned. He admitted that he was just talkative, but did not (intend) to violate the allegations. He admitted that he was just holding hands (which according to the reported person was still reasonable), even though that was also not fair," said Agus.

Now, the teacher is threatened with severe sanctions if proven to have committed the alleged act of obscenity against students as alleged.

However, Agus was reluctant to comment much when further discussed because the ethical sanctions for civil servants can be carried out after the legal status of the reported party has narrowed.

"Still suspected and not yet sentenced, how many years will be punished, what is the violation. What is clear, if proven to have committed obscenity, it is a serious violation. If it is a serious violation of the state civil apparatus, the sanction can be honorably or dishonorably dismissed, but we are waiting for the legal status," he said.

Currently, his party is concentrating on assisting students and parents with the Trenggalek Social Service, Women's Empowerment, and Child Protection.

Assistance on the psychological aspect is important regarding the future of students who are suspected of being victims.

"We provide assistance so that it doesn't interfere with the child's development. Why don't we move the student concerned because it's not as easy as imagined. Soon there will be a final exam, regarding the student's identification number and others, so we maximize our assistance efforts," he said.

Previously, a teacher in Trenggalek was reported to the police for alleged sexual abuse of five of his students in the school library within a certain period of time. Currently the case of alleged sexual abuse is being handled by the Trenggalek Police PPA Unit.
