JAKARTA - United States President Joe Biden said on Thursday he had "no regrets" about his handling of classified documents found in his home and former office, and believes the matter will be resolved.

"I don't think I'll find anything there," President Biden told reporters as he made a visit to see the impact of the hurricane in California, reported Reuters January 20.

"I have no regrets. I followed what the lawyers told me, that they wanted me to do it. Exactly what we did," he said.

US Attorney General Merrick Garland last week appointed special attorneys to investigate the matter, after classified documents were found in Biden's Wilmington, Delaware and former Washington D.C. office that he used before becoming president.

"We are fully cooperating and look forward to getting this over with quickly," President Biden said.

President Biden said he had done as instructed by his attorney after "some paperwork got in the wrong place."

He said the document was immediately submitted to the National Archives after it was found.

The White House has been largely on the defensive since the initial revelation on January 9 that the documents had been found.

President Biden's legal team last week acknowledged finding classified documents relating to his period as vice president in President Barack Obama's administration at his Delaware home, including some in his garage.

His aides previously found other batches of classified documents at his residence and at a Washington think tank linked to him.

President Biden expressed his annoyance when asked about the controversy, while conducting a review of the damage from the hurricane that hit large parts of California.

"I'll answer your question, but here's the deal. You know, frankly what bothers me is that we have a serious problem here that we're talking about, talking about what's going on. And the American people don't really understand why you don't ask me about it," he said.
