SURABAYA - The Surabaya District Court (PN) has scheduled the first hearing in the Kanjuruhan Tragedy case today. Three judges were appointed to try the five defendants in the case.

Surabaya District Court Public Relations Deputy Anak Agung Gede Agung Pranata explained that there were three judges appointed to hear the Kanjuruhan case, namely Abu Achmad Sidqi Amsya, Mangapul, and I Ketut Kimiarsa.

East Java Police investigators handed over phase I of the case files for five of the six suspects to the East Java Public Prosecutor (JPU) on Tuesday, December 20 2022. The prosecutor has also stated that the files are complete.

Meanwhile, the files for one suspect, former president director of the New Indonesia League (LIB), Akhmad Hadian Lukita, are still incomplete and returned alias P-19 to East Java Police investigators. Currently, the East Java Prosecutor's Office is still waiting for the file to be handed over from the police.

There were 800 joint personnel from the East Java Regional Police and the Surabaya Police, deployed to secure the first trial of the Kanjuruhan case. Police will be alerted at a number of points determined by the Surabaya District Court (PN).

"According to the SOP, we have prepared 800 personnel for security," said Head of Surabaya Polrestabes Head of Police, AKBP Toni Kasmiri, confirmed, Friday, January 13.

Hundreds of personnel were alerted at a number of points determined by the Surabaya District Court. Apart from personnel, continued Toni, the police also prepared several tactical vehicles, from barracudas, water cannons, to patrols.

However, Toni did not specify the number of personnel on standby at these points. Including tactical vehicles alerted anywhere.

"We are conducting insulation patrols to prevent massive Aremania from arriving. For example, at all toll exits entering Gresik, Sidoarjo, Tanjung Perak, and the Waru border," he said.

Toni hopes that the people and Aremania and Bonek will trust the legal process in force. He appealed to no demonstrations during the trial process was held.

"The Polrestabes did not give permission for the Aremania demonstration because Bonek refused. If you have any questions, please convey them, don't demonstrate," he said.
