JAKARTA - Rain with moderate to heavy intensity in several areas in Jakarta has caused flooding at several points. The flood also caused the Krukut River to overflow.

"The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) records that currently there are 2 RTs or 0.007 percent of the 30,470 Neighborhood Associations (RT) in the DKI Jakarta area", said DKI Jakarta BPBD Implementing Head Isnawa Adji in his statement, Friday, December 16.

The 2 RTs that were submerged in the floods are located in Cilandak Timur Urban Village, South Jakarta with a height of 1.3 meters to 1.6 meters. The reason is the high rainfall and the overflow of the Krukut River.

Currently, 56 people from 14 families have taken refuge in Al Makmuriah Mosque because their houses were flooded.

Apart from that, the DKI BPBD also recorded a fallen tree on Jalan Karang Tengah Raya, Lebak Bulus Village, Cilandak District at 13.20 WIB.

The reason is rain accompanied by strong winds. This fallen tree hit the PLN cable but did not cause the power supply to break.

"Current handling efforts have been completed by 1 BPBD TRC Unit, 1 Parks Sub-Department Unit, and 1 PPSU Unit", said Isnawa.

BPBD DKI Jakarta deploys personnel to monitor inundation conditions in each area and coordinate elements of other DKI regional apparatus work units (SKPD) to carry out suctioning of puddles and ensure the water ropes function properly together with the local sub-district heads.

"The inundation is targeted to recede quickly. BPBD DKI appeals to the public to remain cautious and alert to potential inundation", he added.
