Damaged 58,000 Houses And Caused 600 People Die, Regent Called Cianjur Earthquake Losses Touching IDR 4 Trillion

Assistance from the central government to rebuild houses that collapsed due to the Cianjur earthquake, West Java, reached IDR 3 trillion/ANTARA

CIANJUR - Regent of Cianjur, West Java, Herman Suherman, said losses due to the magnitude 5.6 earthquake that rocked Cianjur on Monday, November 21, reached IDR 4 trillion. The earthquake resulted in 58 thousand damaged houses and 600 people died.

"The rough estimate is around IDR 4 trillion because it was not only tens of thousands of houses that were damaged, including hundreds of schools, dozens of offices, roads and bridges", said Herman in Cianjur, Antara, Wednesday, December 14.

The central government pays more attention to the victims of the Cianjur earthquake, by providing assistance of IDR 6 trillion for post-earthquake recovery including building relocation houses, repairing damaged houses, and restoring the residents' economy.

Herman detailed assistance from the central government, half of which, or IDR 3 trillion was used to assistance for residents to rebuild their houses. It was recorded that the number of damaged was 58 thousand with details of 13,633 heavily damaged, 16,059 moderately damaged, and 26,586 lightly damaged.

"We have full support from the central government until recovery, while the local government will focus on economic recovery after the emergency response

Currently, said Herman, his party is also planning a budget relocation for elderly citizens who are required to receive assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs' Family Hope Program (PKH), so that their monthly survival can be guaranteed by the government.

As for young people of productive age, his party will provide training and business capital according to their expertise, so that in the future they can open their own businesses or become MSMEs with superior products by the Cianjur Regency Government's target of printing 10,000 MSMEs.

"We will provide expertise and skills training so that young people of productive age can develop their talents and skills after undergoing training, and we will assist in terms of capital so that the earthquake victims' economies recover", he said.
