The Ministry Of Religion Calls The Action Of Suicide Bombs In Bandung To Be Humanitarian Residents

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Ministry of Religion, Nizar Ali, said that the suicide bombing in the city of Bandung had actually violated religious teachings and ignored human dignity.

"This is a sign of a threat to all of us, because some of us have extreme perspectives of ignoring human dignity. We know in any religion that will certainly teach humanism," Nizar said as quoted by Antara, Saturday, December 10.

He admitted that he was concerned about the actions of some people and groups who were still using violent methods such as suicide bombings to convey different views.

For Nizar, this method clearly contradicts any religious teachings that always prioritize respect, politeness, and safety.

Religion also teaches its people to have dialogue or deliberation if they encounter problems that have a deadlock.

According to Nizar, the extreme perspective understood by the perpetrators or some groups needs to be straightened out through religious moderation. This conception needs to be echoed massively by the whole community, in order to create a moderate perspective.

"This is a perspective that in my opinion needs to be straightened out, one of which is religious moderation. This is a massive movement by the Ministry of Religion to educate so that later people's perspectives and attitudes can be moderate," he said.

Nizar stated that there are four indicators of religious moderation. First, national commitment.

According to him, if someone or a group wants to replace the country's ideology with other ideologies, including people who are not moderate.

"If there are people who love the land, the water is minimal, of course this is not moderate," he said.

Second, tolerance. Everyone must be able to respect all views without imposing their will if there are differences. The differences that arise must be solved through the way of deliberation, not violence.

Third, non-violence. According to him, there is not a single religion that teaches violence. Religion teaches the value of compassion love.

Fourth, adaptive to local culture. The diversity of ethnicity, culture, religion, and Indonesian language are characteristics that are not owned by other nations. Therefore, with this difference, it should not be a cause for divided society.

"There are people who are not friendly to local traditions, so they enter into a radical context," he said.
