JAKARTA - The Supreme Court (MA) believes that it can clean up problematic apparatus within 1 year if it has the authority to wiretap like the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). "I promise that within 1 year, we will finish 17.28 percent of the potential for problems," said Deputy Chairperson of the Supreme Court for Non-yudial Affairs Sunarto in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, December 9. As many as 17.28 percent of apparatus that have the potential to cause these problems, he said, referred to the results of a survey by the National Integrity Index conducted by anti-corruption agencies some time ago. Meanwhile, 82.72 percent was a positive result obtained by the judiciary. However, said Sunarto, unfortunately the Supreme Court does not have the authority or power to intercept potentially problematic officials like the KPK or Polri. However, in the midst of existing limitations, the Supreme Court promised to continue to work optimally to improve the situation, especially the problems that occur within the judiciary. Even though it is only limited to potential, the Supreme Court considers it necessary to anticipate as early as possible against the apparatus within the Supreme Court. Moreover, in accordance with the blueprint prepared by the institution, the Supreme Court wants to create an authoritative justice body. "So, if in 2035 there is (a judge) who is subject to another hand arrest operation or violates the law, the blueprint fails," he said. Therefore, the former High Court Justice of Gorontalo said it needed hard work so that as many as 17.28 percent or about seven judges from 47 Supreme Court judges were reminded not to cause problems such as being involved in corruption cases.
