Jokowi Returns to Cianjur, Examines Building Reconstruction and Distribution of Aid

WEST JAVA - President Joko Widodo returned to visit areas affected by the earthquake in Cianjur Regency, West Java, Monday, December 5.

The head of state headed for Cianjur using the land route to ensure the start of the reconstruction process and the distribution of humanitarian assistance to all earthquake victims.

Based on information from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat via Antara, Jokowi is scheduled to visit several locations, namely disaster management posts to several points affected by the earthquake.

Furthermore, Jokowi also inspected the construction site for the Risha special earthquake-resistant house or Simple Healthy Instant House.

After the visit, Jokowi is scheduled to immediately leave for the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday, December 5 afternoon.

Accompanying the President's visit to Cianjur included Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, and Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto.

According to the Cianjur Regency Government in a press conference, Sunday, December 5, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 in Cianjur that occurred on Monday, November 21 caused 334 victims to die and eight people are still being searched for.

Regional Secretary of Cianjur Regency, Cecep Alamsyah, said that the number of houses heavily damaged by the earthquake reached 8,151 houses, while moderately damaged houses reached 11,210 units and 18,469 units lightly damaged.

In addition, damage also occurred in 525 schools, 269 places of worship, 14 health facilities, and 17 office buildings.
