Former Mayor of Cimahi Ajay M Priyatna was charged by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to bribe Rp507,390,000 to former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju in a case of alleged bribery in handling corruption cases. KPK prosecutor Agung Satria Wibowo said that Ajay's bribery of KPK investigators was suspected to have occurred in October 2020, when Ajay learned of an investigation by the KPK in the Greater Bandung area. "That is so that Stepanus Robin Pattuju either directly or indirectly takes care of legal cases related to the investigation carried out by the KPK on suspicion of corruption in the Greater Bandung area, including Cimahi City in 2019-2020 so as not to involve the defendant," said Agung at the Bandung District Court., West Java, Antara, Wednesday, November 30. The indictment against Ajay is based on Article 5 Paragraph 1 letter a or Article 5 Paragraph 1 letter b or Article 13 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001. The prosecutor explained that after Ajay found out about the KPK investigation in the Greater Bandung area, Ajay then contacted Stepanus through intermediary Syaeful Bahri. Then, he said, Ajay and Stepanus agreed to meet at a hotel in South Jakarta. After meeting at the hotel, according to him, Ajay then asked Stepanus regarding the KPK investigation that was being carried out in Greater Bandung. At that time, according to him Ajay had prepared Rp100 million. "And for this matter, Stepanus Robin Pattuju confirmed it. Stepanus said that he could help secure the defendant as long as the defendant provided Rp1.5 billion," said the prosecutor. However, at the request, according to him Ajay objected and only agreed to give IDR 500 million to Stepanus. Then, he said, Stepanus agreed to the intention of giving Rp500 million from Ajay. "The defendant then gave Rp100 million in the bag he had brought as the initial payment for their agreement and promised to hand over the remaining money of their agreement the next day," he said. Then, said the prosecutor, Ajay also handed over Rp387 million in cash the next day after giving the first money, at the same hotel. Then about 10 days later, the prosecutor said Ajay had paid off the promise of giving money to Stepanus by giving Rp. 20 million. The third giving, according to the prosecutor, was carried out at a restaurant in Bandung City after Stepanus had previously collected Ajay's promise. "That the defendant's actions that have given the total amount of Rp507 million," said the prosecutor. Previously, former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju by the Jakarta District Court was sentenced to 11 years in prison plus a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison plus the obligation to pay compensation of Rp. 2,322,577,000. Stepanus and his fellow advocate Maskur Husain were proven to have received bribes worth Rp11.025 billion and US$36 thousand (around Rp513 million) for a total of Rp11.5 billion related to the management of five cases of alleged corruption at the KPK. The bribes were received from former Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial in the amount of Rp1.695 billion, former Deputy Speaker of the DPR from the Golkar Party faction Azis Syamsudin and former Deputy Chairperson of the PP Youth Forces of the Golkar Party (AMPG) Aliza Gunado amounting to Rp3.613 billion. Then from the former Mayor of Cimahi amounting to Rp507 million, convicts of corruption cases of land use rights Usman Effendi amounting to Rp525 million, and former Kutai Kartanegara Regent Rita Widyasari amounting to Rp5.1 billion.
