JAKARTA - The chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, admitted that she had not received the Presidential Letter (Surpres) of the TNI Commander Candidate proposed by President Joko Widodo. "The chairman of the DPR is still here. So he has not received it," said Puan after receiving the Brevet Hiu Kencana from KSAL Admiral TNI Yudo Margono at Pier 100, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Monday, November 28. In front of three chiefs of staff of the force, namely KSAL Admiral Yudo Margono, Army Chief of Staff General Dudung Abdurachman, and KSAU Marshal TNI Fadjar Prasetyo, Puan emphasized that the Presidential Candidate for TNI Commander will be delivered at the DPR Office.

"Yes, all the candidates are here, I have not received the letter because the chairman of the DPR is still here. Yes, later what is in the contents of the letter, of course I as the Chairman of the DPR will officially convey it to the media and the public at the DPR Office," explained Puan. TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa will enter retirement in December 2022. Three chiefs of staff in the force have the opportunity to serve as TNI Commander, including TNI Admiral Yudo Margono. The plan is that Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno will submit the presidential decree to DPR Speaker Puan Maharani on Monday afternoon, at around 16.00 WIB.

After being received by the DPR RI, the Presidential Decree for the Prospective Commander of the TNI will be followed up by a fit and proper test mechanism or a "fit and proper test". The fit and proper test process will be carried out by Commission I of the DPR which manages the defense sector. Based on Law (UU) Number 34 of 2004 concerning the TNI, members of the DPR have 20 days to implement the mechanism.
