JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said the government would provide rental money assistance for residents of victims of the Cianjur earthquake whose houses were still in good condition to accommodate fellow earthquake victims.
"For example, if you have an empty room, you can accommodate your neighbor, it is not free, there is assistance from the government as rent," said BNPB Head Lt. Gen. Suharyanto in a virtual press conference, Sunday, November 27.
Suharyanto said that during a direct inspection of the homes of residents who were victims of the Cianjur earthquake, several houses were found to be in good condition, but residents of the home owners were still reluctant to occupy their homes for fear of aftershocks.
If they have been convinced by the results of the earthquake analysis from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) which states that residents are safe to return home, it is hoped that the refugees can return to their homes that can still be occupied.
"Those whose houses suffered minor damage can return to their homes. The houses were heavily damaged in parallel, data collection was carried out so that they could be built immediately," he said.
For residents who do not have neighbors whose houses can still be occupied after the earthquake, family tents will be set up around their homes. The head of BNPB said the Cianjur Regency Government would also hold several thousand family tents.
"The Regent (Cianjur) also coordinated that he would hold several thousand family tents," he said.

BNPB in collaboration with the TNI will also mobilize resources to help clean up the debris of residents' houses, so that together with the community, the process of cleaning up debris can be carried out more quickly.
In addition, the refugees, especially those who fled in tents with a capacity of more than 25 people, could gradually leave refugee camps and return to their respective homes.
BNPB recorded as many as 325 refugee points spread across 15 sub-districts in Cianjur Regency, with details of 183 evacuation points with the strength of evacuation above 25 people, and 142 self-isolation points with strengths below 25 people.
Currently, the number of refugees is recorded at 73,874 people, covering 33,713 men and 40,161 women, including 92 people with disabilities, 1,207 pregnant women, and 4,240 elderly.
Meanwhile, a total of 62,628 houses were damaged by the earthquake, covering 27,434 houses severely damaged, 13,070 houses moderately damaged, 22,124 houses lightly damaged.
For the relocation of residents, the Head of BNPB said that two hectares of land has been available, but the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing will immediately finalize the process so that it is hoped that in the next week development on the land can begin.
