Remembering To Be An Exemplary Of Democracy, Mahfud MD Hopes That The XI KAHMI National Conference Ends In Peace

SULTENG) - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD asked the Alumni Corps of the Islamic Student Association (KAHMI) to be a political role model based in Indonesia.

"HAKMI must set an example as a good role model for democratic politics in the country," said Mahfud MD at the XI KAHMI National Conference in Palu, Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi), Friday, November 25, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that in this civilized democratic politics, KAHMI members must uphold the values and norms that apply in Indonesia.

"So, go ahead and do politics, but still have to be civilized; you can't slander, let alone insult your political opponents," he continued.

He also asked KAHMI to return to the ideals of its predecessors, namely always creating national cadres who take care of government at various levels.

"The value is, at that time I was thinking about how Indonesia would truly be independent, so that Islamic children could enter to take care of this government; and now the door is wide open, just go back to yourself whether you want to betray that value or not," he explained.

Mahfud also hopes that the XI KAHMI National Conference will end peacefully and provide coolness, both within the organization and in the wider community.

According to him, various differences are common and can be a dynamic in every munas for the alumni of the Islamic Student Association (HMI).

"I hope that this ends like the previous munas, crowded, kasak-kusuk, normal dynamics, and that's good. However, after completion (munas) this KAHMI remains one," he said.

The XI KAHMI National Conference, which was held today, is scheduled to open Vice President (Wapres) Maruf Amin.

Also present at the XI KAHMI National Conference in Palu were the 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla, senior politician Akbar Tandjung, and Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia.
