Review The Letter Of The Minister Of Environment And Forestry, A Tariff Of IDR 3.75 Million To Enter Komodo Island Still Applicable Early Next Year

JAKARTA - The tariff that has just entered Komodo Island and Padar amounting to IDR 3.75 million will take effect on January 1, 2023.

"The new tariff on Komodo Island remains valid on January 1, 2023. There is no influence with a letter from the Minister of Environment and Forestry asking the NTT Government to review a number of articles in the NTT Governor's regulation regarding the management of the Komodo National Park (TNK) area. The Minister has no orders to cancel tariffs," said the Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Office of East Nusa Tenggara, Zeth Sony Libing in Kupang, Friday, November 18.

He explained, related to the letter from the Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya regarding the memorandum of understanding between the Director General of KSDAE and the NTT Government regarding cooperation in strengthening the function of the conservation and conservation area of biological natural resources and its ecosystem in a sustainable manner at the Komodo National Park (TNK) and the cooperation agreement (PKS) between the Komodo National Park Office and PT Flobamor which became a reference in the regulation of the Governor of NTT Number 85 of 2022 is not a form of delegation of authority to manage conservation areas in the TNK.

According to Zeth Sony Libing, several articles in the regulation of the Governor of NTT will certainly be reviewed and revised soon, but this does not cancel the determination of entry rates to Komodo Island which has been set by the NTT government of Rp. 3.75 million.

"In a letter from the Minister of Environment and Forestry, it does not mention the cancellation of tariff determinations but only asks for a revision of a number of articles in the NTT Governor Regulation," said Zeth Sony Libing as quoted by Antara.

In the Regulation of the Governor of NTT Number 85 of 2022 dated July 28, 2022 specifically Article 9 states that tourists who have not contributed are not allowed to make tourist visits to Komodo and Padar Island and the surrounding waters with an area of 712.12 hectares.

This article, according to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, in a letter signed by Minister Siti Nubaya, is very contrary to the laws and regulations because the public or tourists have the freedom to use or access the KPA area while paying the PNBP ticket legally in accordance with government regulation Number 12 of 2014.

In fact, according to the Minister of Environment and Forestry in the regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry, there is not a single legal product that requires the public to contribute and prohibits the public from accessing or utilizing natural recreation purposes if it does not make a contribution as stated in the NTT Governor Regulation.

"In principle, the NTT Government will revise a number of articles in the NTT Governor Regulation, but the tariff will still be applied as previously stipulated," said Zeth Sony Libing.
