Prisoners Departing From The Tanjungpinang Detention Center Arrested, Sanctions Waiting For A Decree Of The Ministry Of Law And Human Rights Of The Riau Islands

KEPRI - A fugitive named Zul Fauzi Rahman alias Ibrahim who escaped from the Tanjungpinang Class I Detention Center (Rutan), Riau Islands Province (Kepri) was arrested.

Head of the Class I Rutan in Tanjungpinang, Eri Erawan, said the inmate was arrested on Garuda Street, South Toapaya District, Bintan Regency, Monday, November 14, at around 05.10 WIB.

"The arrest of this prisoner is due to the cooperation between the detention center and the Bintan Police, Tanjungpinang Police, and the Riau Islands Regional Intelligence Agency (Binda), based on information from the public," said Eri, in Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands, quoted from Antara, Monday, November 14.

After a Tanjungpinang detention center escaped, his party was committed to continuing to evaluate and improve the performance of officers in improving better, transparent, and accountable services.

He also ensured that he would impose measurable sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations if there were prison officers who violated the case of the escaped convict.

"We continue to try to fulfill the rights of the inmates, but we also need the help of the community and media partners to improve services and restore public trust in the coaching programs implemented," he said.

Regarding whether there are sanctions for the escaped convicts. Eri stated that he would first coordinate with the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) of the Riau Islands.

Prisoner Zul Fauzi escaped from the Tanjungpinang Detention Center, Monday, October 31. At that time he was in the courtyard outside the detention center as a companion prisoner.

Initially, Zul Fauzi was placed in a detention cell, but after being observed and based on the results of the assessment, he was finally trained outside the detention center starting October 12, 2022.

He is a convict in a motorcycle embezzlement case who has served half of his prison term in September 2022 and was purely free in May 2023.

At the time of the incident, Zul Fauzi was in the process of proposing to receive conditional leave in December 2022. He was allowed to return home in December 2022 as long as he behaved well while serving his term of detention.
