JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said that disasters in Indonesia were dominated by floods in the period January 1 to October 29, 2022, which was 1,238 events. Based on BNPB data, quoted from Antara, Saturday, October 29, there were 3,027 recorded numbers of disasters occurring in the country, which included floods, extreme weather, landslides, forest and land fires (karhutla), tidal waves and abrasion, volcanic eruptions, and drought. A total of 3,027 disaster events consisted of 1,238 flood events that occurred in Indonesia, 931 extreme weather events, 562 landslides, 248 forest and land fires. As a result of the disaster, 198 people died, 31 people were missing, 832 were injured and 3,903,947 people were suffering and displaced. These disasters caused 32,707 houses to be damaged, consisting of 5,342 houses severely damaged, 5,688 houses moderately damaged, and 21,677 houses lightly damaged. Then, as many as 917 damaged facilities consisting of 520 educational facilities, 321 worship facilities, and 76 health facilities. In addition, as many as 140 offices and 270 bridges were damaged. Previously, BNPB appealed to flood vigilance in a number of areas in Indonesia until early October 2022. Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari in Disaster Briefing in Jakarta, Tuesday (27/9), said that currently according to the ongoing September 3 weather forecast, the western part of West Kalimantan, central Kalimantan and West Java were needed to be vigilant.
