There Are Only Hundreds Of Doses Of COVID-19 Vaccine In Jakarta, Only Available In These 5 Locations

JAKARTA - Head of the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Immunization Section of the DKI Jakarta Health Service, Ngabila Salama, admitted that currently there are only hundreds of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in Jakarta.

"The condition (vaccine stock) is currently only hundreds of doses spread throughout Jakarta. The types of vaccines are Pfizer and Sinovac", Ngabila said when contacted, Tuesday, October 25.

There are only five vaccination centers that still provide injections, said Ngabila. Among them are the Gambir District Health Center, Kelapa Gading District Health Center, Kramat Jati District Health Center, Jatinegara District Health Center, and vaccination services at the Pegangsaan Dua LRT Station.

"It's possible that there are only 5 locations left. This is what I got from reports from friends at the public health center (Puskesmas)", said Ngabila.

Currently, the DKI Health Office is still waiting for the distribution of additional vaccine stocks from the Ministry of Health, both from domestic production and imported from abroad.

Seeing the high demand and implementation of vaccine injections in Jakarta, Ngabila asked the central government to prioritize the distribution of vaccine stocks for the capital city. While waiting for the supply of new vaccine stocks, Ngabila asked that the remaining vaccine doses in other areas could be transferred to DKI Jakarta.

"We hope that if there is a lack of absorption in other provinces, it can be temporarily relocated to DKI Jakarta Province because the need is quite high", explained Ngabila.

"Because from the start, we never discriminated between Jakartans or not. When he really needs to travel domestically and abroad, we have to take injections", She added.

Confirmed separately, the Head of the Communication and Public Service Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, admitted that the stock of vaccines distributed by the central government to the regions was indeed limited.

"(The stock of vaccines) is limited and not empty because some are scattered in health facilities but the rate of injection is different. So, some are empty, and some are still available even though they are limited", said Nadia.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health is trying to relocate vaccine distribution from areas that are still sufficient to other areas that are lacking. It is targeted that within the next week the stock of vaccines will be available again in normal quantities.

"God willing, in the next week, it will start to be available again. The stock will be from domestic production and if it is less than the COVAX Facility (multilateral cooperation program)", she explained.
