The National Police's Criminal Investigation Team investigated allegations of criminal acts in the case of sirop drugs containing eltylene glycol which exceeded the threshold, causing atypical progressive acute kidney failure in children in Indonesia.

"Today the team from Bareskrim is working with an agenda of checking laboratory results," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo when confirmed in Jakarta, Monday, October 24, quoted from Antara.

Dedi explained that the checking in the context of the investigation was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police together with a joint team from the Ministry of Health and the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

"The team conducted a synergy and attention to the incident," added the former Central Kalimantan regional police chief.

Regarding the results of the checks carried out, was there any negligence of supervision until an acute kidney failure case occurred due to taking sirop drugs, Dedi said it would be submitted after the investigation was completed. Currently, the team is still working in the field.

"Later, the laboratory results and stages are still under investigation. Waiting for updates from the Criminal Investigation Department," said Dedi.

Previously, Saturday (22/10), Vice President Maruf Amin emphasized the importance of withdrawing drugs that cause kidney failure cases from the market. He stressed that research and withdrawal of dangerous drugs need not only be done in pharmacies, but also in other selling places.

Meanwhile, regarding the possibility of a criminal act or intentional element in the case, Ma'ruf Amin stated that this would be investigated by the police.

"The problem regarding the crime is the police and also the POM Agency so that they are really selective in granting drug distribution permits for the community," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.
