Tourism Drivers Must Know Full Knowledge Of Borobudur Temple

Around 100 tour guides were equipped with full knowledge of Borobudur Temple in Magelang Regency, Central Java.

Director General of Buddhist Community Guidance, Ministry of Religion Supriyadi said the knowledge of Borobudur Temple was given by Borobudur Temple Researcher Dr. Hudaya Kandajaya.

"This activity is useful, where we from Bimas Buddha pay full attention to the use of Borobudur Temple. Tourist guides need to get a complete understanding of some of the knowledge that has existed so far. Knowledge has developed so we need updates," Supriyadi said as quoted by Antara, Monday, October 17.

He conveyed this after the opening of the Information on Borobudur for the Borobudur Temple Tourism Guide at the Manohara Hotel, Borobudur Temple complex.

Supriyadi hopes that the speaker can provide an update of knowledge so that he can open the horizon to Borobudur's understanding, especially regarding Buddhism.

Borobudur Temple researcher Dr. Hudaya Kandahjaya said that at first his party was aware of the confusion of explanations about Borobudur Temple, which prompted him to examine Borobudur Temple.

Hudaya, who was born in Bogor, is currently a researcher in the United States who is very focused on Borobudur. His work "Borobudur-Madiaa Sugata Community Service Association" was published in 2021 by the Publisher of Karaniya.

The briefing for these tour guides was held to provide some information about Borobudur, considering that there are various versions of explanations about Borobudur Temple which has been popular in society.

He conveyed that research certainly stands in the real world, so far there is a tridatu term, it was proposed by a Dutch scholar named Stutterheim, from the start it had caused a lot of controversy and in the end it was widely denied by experts.

"It's true because what Stutterheim said was because he happened to read in Sang Hyang Kamahoyaikan's book and then it seemed to match that. The shape of Borobudur seems to consist of three layers if viewed roughly, even though the basic concept behind mentioning the tridatu in the book has no connection with Borobudur," he said.

Then he gave another example of the sound of sambhara budara circulating as the origin of the name Borobudur, even though the initiator, namely Prof. G de Casparis, had stated that his theory was wrong.

"So the initiator himself has stated wrong. I had a dialogue with him in the 1980s in the letter stating that I apologize because in the past when I prepared the dissertation in the 1950s I was in a hurry to explain the name of Borobudur. The air was chosen by Prof G de Casparis to match the name of thebudur, even though it had no relationship at all," he said.

According to him, this kind of thing, if left unchecked, certainly does not help understand the meaning of Borobudur as intended by its creators.

"So my goal of researching is to understand according to the perception of the creator of Borobudur. Not according to my personal perception," he said.
