KPK Will Summons Again North Toraja Regent Regarding Papua Mimika Regent Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will recall the Regent of North Toraja Yohanis Bassang on Tuesday, October 18. This summons was made because he did not attend the scheduled examination for Friday, October 14.

"Yohanis Bassang, the regent of North Toraja, was not present," said KPK News Section Head Ali Fikri to reporters, Monday, October 17.

Ali said Yohanis would actually be examined as a witness last Friday. This investigation is related to the alleged corruption in the construction of the Kingmi Mile 32 Church which ensnared the inactive Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng.

However, when he was going to be questioned at the KPK's Merah Putih Building, Yohanis was not present. "The information we have received has been confirmed by the investigation team to be rescheduled for Tuesday, October 18," he explained.

Ali did not specify what investigators would investigate. However, Yohanis is suspected of knowing the presumptuous practices that Eltinus allegedly carried out.

Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng was officially detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) after being forcibly picked up. He is a suspect in the alleged corruption in the construction of the Kingmi Mile 32 Church in Mimika Regency, Papua.

Apart from Eltinus, there are two other suspects who have been named by the KPK but have not been arrested. They are the Head of the Welfare Section of the Mimika Regency Secretariat who is the official commitment maker (PPK) Marthen Sawy and the Director of PT Waringin Megah (WM), Teguh Anggara.

In this case, the KPK suspects that there are discrepancies including the timeframe of the work when the church was built and the lack of volume of work even though payments have been made. As a result, the state lost up to IDR 21.6 billion from the contract value of IDR 46 billion.

In addition, it is suspected that various arrangements were made by Eltinus. One of them directly appointed PT Waringin Megah led by Teguh Anggara.

From this appointment, it is suspected that there was an agreement to provide a fee of 10 percent, of which 7 percent was for Eltinus and 3 percent for Teguh.

In addition, it is suspected that there is a subcontractor from another company, namely PT Kuala Persada Papua Nusantara (KPPN) who works without a contract agreement. Eltinus said the KPK also received around IDR4.4 billion in money in this case.
