JAMBI - The Jambi Regional Police have again proposed an extension of the temporary suspension of coal trucking activities in the area until October 15.

Traffic Director of the Jambi Police Kombes Pol Dhafi said the Jambi Police had sent back a letter to the Director General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to increase the time to stop coal transportation activities because the road construction had to be completed.

"Based on a letter from the Jambi National Road Implementation Center asking for an extension of the time to stop the activity of coal transporting trucks, because road repairs have not been completed and asked to be extended until October 15, 2022," he said in Jambi, as quoted from Antara, Wednesday, October 13.

The day before, the Jambi Regional Police had also written to the Director General of Mineral and Coal to temporarily suspend them for two days, namely 12 October and 13 October 2022.

He said the temporary suspension of coal transportation operations from the mine to the Talang Duku stockpile was carried out to reduce congestion and provide room for repairs to damaged national roads at several locations.

From observations in the field until Wednesday, October 12 night, it was observed that the traffic flow in several locations looked deserted. There are no coal trucks passing by.

She also appealed to the drivers of trucks carrying coal that were loaded to return to the mine site.

Some of the national roads that have been repaired include the Jambi City boundary, Simpang Rimbo-Pal 10, the City boundary of Jambi-Tempino, Simpang Pal 10-Simpang Palmerah-East Ring, East Ring 1-East Ring 2-Sijenjang, Muaro Jambi Regency border- Land Mendal.

"With this, the community is calmer. We, the police, have done their best to break down the traffic jams since a few days ago," he said.
