WONOGIRI - An elderly woman (elderly) from Gleegan Hamlet, Pondok Village, Ngadirojo District, Wonogiri Regency, Kijem, 84, is suspected of being a victim of fraud. Two jewelry in the form of a ring disappeared by an unknown person (OTK) who came to his house, last Wednesday, October 5. Kijem's loss was estimated at IDR 5 million.

The news of the alleged fraud was initially known through a video that went viral on social media. In the video, an elderly woman known as Kijem said that she was a victim of fraud.

The modus operandi is that an unknown person who claims to be from a sub-district officer comes to him, offers that Kijem can receive social assistance (Bansos).

Instead of getting help, in the video, Kijem said that what happened was that the unknown person took away two pieces. The news of the viral video was confirmed by the village head (Kades) of Pondok, Sularno. According to him, the alleged fraud in his village occurred when Kijem was at home alone.

He said someone wanted to give help. The condition is that the photos are taken and then asked questions, whether they have received assistance or not. But when photographed, the unknown person ordered Kijem to take off his jewelry, so it wouldn't be seen when photographed," he said, Monday, October 10.

After the incident that happened to Kijem, the Head of Sularno admitted that he had taken the initiative to visit residents suspected victims of fraud. The case, he continued, has also been handled by the Ngadirojo Sector Police (Polsek).

Initially there was no report to us. But we took the initiative to come to him. The case has now been reported to the police. The police have gone to the TKP [the crime scene]. The loss is around Rp. 5 million," he added.

Wonogiri Police Chief, AKBP Dydit Dwi Susanto has learned about the alleged fraud experienced by residents of Pondok Village, Ngadirojo District. The case is also being investigated by the Ngadirojo Police. Furthermore, AKBP Dydit appealed to the public to be more careful after the fraud incident with the mode of data collection on social assistance.

The Wonogiri Police Chief will also ask Bhabinkamtibmas in each region to be on guard.

"We ask Bhabinkamtibmas to spread his phone number to a number of his fostered villages, so that the fraud incident can be heard directly by Bhabin members who fostered the village," he explained.

This is because the events experienced by Kijem, according to him, can penetrate other sub-districts.

"It is possible that it will penetrate other sub-districts. So we urge the public to be more careful and alert to similar modes," concluded AKBP Dydit.
