Verifikasi Parpol Via Video Call, KPU Di 3 Daerah Provinsi Riau Disanksi

RIAU - Riau Province Bawaslu gave administrative sanctions to the KPU in the 3 regencies and cities of the region for verifying political parties through video calls. The method is considered wrong and prohibited.

The three KPUs are Pekanbaru City KPU, Meranti Islands Regency KPU, and Kuantan Singingi Regency KPU.

"For this violation, the three were sanctioned in the form of a written warning so that they would no longer repeat the act," said Head of the Riau Province Bawaslu Alfrizal in Pekanbaru, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, October 5.

The sanction was given by Bawaslu Riau in a trial held on Tuesday, October 4 afternoon. The trial was chaired by the Chairman of the Riau Bawaslu Alfrizal accompanied by two other commissioners, Amiruddin Sijaya and Nanang Wartono.

The trial presented the parties, namely the reported KPU Pekanbaru City, KPU Meranti Islands, and KPU Kuansing, as well as the inventors, namely Pekanbaru City Bawaslu, Meranti Islands Bawaslu, and Kuansing Bawaslu.

It was stated that in the trial, the three reported violations had committed administrative violations in the form of clarifying the dual membership of political parties through the video call of the WhatsApp messaging application.

In fact, in the General Elections Commission Regulation (PKPU) Number 4 of 2022 it is stated that the clarification of the dual membership of political parties must be carried out directly by presenting members of political parties whose physical membership is doubtful to the KPU office concerned.

The Assembly reminded the reported parties not to repeat or take similar actions that are contrary to statutory provisions.

He said that there were no rules confirming the actions taken by the three KPUs. "There are no rules so that the act of verifying via video calls is not regulated," he said.
