YOGYAKARTA - The City Government (Pemkot) of Yogyakarta is targeting the preparation of the poverty data map in its area to be completed by the end of 2022 so that it can be used as the basis for designing poverty reduction programs in 2023.

According to the Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Yogyakarta City, Agus Tri Haryono, the preparation of the poverty data map begins with the integration of data on the poor population in the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) with data on the Target Family of Social Protection Insurance (KSJPS).

However, Agus said the data did not provide a true picture of the poverty condition of the population because it did not include data on family income, occupation, number of children, and other parameters of socio-economic conditions.

Therefore, he said, it is necessary to add parameters to complete the data that is already available and verify the data.

"Verification is also needed because DTKS data also comes from data collection in 2011 which was updated in 2015 so that there are dynamics in the community that need to be re-checked," he said in Yogyakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, September 1.

Agus said the new data map will be used as the basis for formulating poverty reduction programs.

"Later on, the poverty reduction program will be adapted to the conditions and needs of the community. For example, if the community needs educational assistance interventions, it is directed to get regional education guarantees (JPD)," he said.

"From the data map, it will also be possible to monitor the development of the community. Are they still at the poverty line or have their economy improved," he continued.

Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of the Yogyakarta City Government, Aman Yuriadijaya, said that the poverty alleviation team that had been formed in each village and sub-district needed to coordinate across sectors to accelerate poverty reduction efforts.

In the last two years, the poverty rate in the city of Yogyakarta has increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The poverty rate in Yogyakarta City was recorded to have increased from 6.84 percent in 2019 to 7.27 percent in 2020 and rose again to 7.69 percent in 2021.

In the 2023-2026 Regional Development Plan, the Yogyakarta City Government targets the poverty rate to be in the range of 6.01 percent to 7.23 percent.
